Navigating Challenging Cases in Therapy?
Clinical consultation is here to provide the guidance and support you need. I specialize in assisting licensed therapists as they tackle complex cases and ethical dilemmas. Together, we’ll explore individualized feedback, practical tools, documentation templates, and step-by-step strategies tailored to your unique situation. My goal is to help you blend practical solutions with the passion that brought you to this field and to reignite your enthusiasm for your work if needed. While we may touch on how your personal experiences influence your practice, it’s important to note that consultation is distinct from counseling or supervision and operates separately from my therapy practice.
Starting Your Own Therapy Practice?
One crucial lesson that schools often overlook is how to launch a successful practice. Many therapists enter the field driven by compassion rather than a business mindset, which can lead to challenges in establishing their practice. When I opened mine, I leaned heavily on business consultants, and the investment was truly invaluable.
Now, I offer consultation services to therapists considering starting a practice or looking to enhance their existing one. I meet you where you are in your journey, understanding that building a thriving private practice takes time and effort. Our work will focus on strategic planning, marketing, and effective operational management. We’ll identify short- and long-term goals, uncover your strengths and unique niches, and develop strategies for attracting your ideal clients—all essential components of successful practice management. Supporting clinicians through this process is incredibly rewarding for me.
The demand for counseling is higher than ever, creating fantastic opportunities for entrepreneurs and those dreaming of their own practice. If you’re feeling burned out in your agency job, now is the perfect time to leap! You can succeed during this pivotal moment with a solid business plan and intentional actions.

Effective January 1, 2022, the federal No Surprises Act was enacted to protect clients from unexpected medical billing. This law requires all healthcare providers to give uninsured patients a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) or those choosing not to use insurance for their healthcare services.
If applicable, your GFE will outline the expected costs for mental health care services, excluding any unforeseen expenses that may arise during treatment.

She studied psychology, philosophy, and criminology and received her bachelor of science in criminal justice. In Boston, MA, Kristina participated in designing youth gang interventions, LGBTQIA+ mentoring programs, and an LGBTQIA+ suicide hotline for students. Kristina also volunteered for the Human Rights Campaign and participated in social activism for transgender students and their rights on campus. After studying human behavior, she spent five years investigating insurance fraud in the private investigation field. While doing this, Kristina kept her interest in the human service field and continued mentoring youth in the community. Kristina has traveled around the world and attended several Global Youth Leadership Conferences that streamlined participants’ attention to social and political issues and met with global leaders in hopes of exacting change to help citizens afflicted by these issues.

When Kristina moved to New York, she began volunteering at Hands Across Long Island, a personalized recovery-oriented services (PROS) program. PROS is a comprehensive recovery-oriented program for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. While there, Kristina worked as an employment specialist and ran groups to assist people who suffered from mental illness in finding work or going back to school and becoming contributing members of society again.

Kristina got her masters in Social Welfare at Stony Brook University, where she learned about psycho-pharmacology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Crisis Intervention. She worked for Clinical Care Associates for three years, working with mandated clients referred to her by Suffolk County Central Islip Courts. She specialized in Anger Management, Power & Control, Sexual Offending Rehabilitation, Sexual Trauma and Recovery, Sexual Paraphilia assessment & intervention, Domestic Violence Intervention, and Couples Counseling. Kristina worked alongside Probation/Parole, New York courts, judges, and neighboring agencies like Long Island Domestic Violence Agency to provide therapy to our mandated clientele and educate the public and courts on successful treatment approaches. At Clinical Care Associates, Kristina designed an LGBTQIA+ Domestic Violence intervention/educational program that combined the education she received from Domestic Violence Intervention and applied it to LGBTQIA+ couples and families.

Kristina treats individuals, adults, older adolescents/young adults, *LGBTQIA+ couples only/ families, and LGBTQIA+ adolescents & adult clients. Kristina has also received training in Mindfulness-Based Techniques, CBT, Treating Pure O of OCD, Imago Technique treating PTSD/CPTSD, Grief Counseling, and more.
Kristina’s approach guides you to take an active role in making good choices that meet your therapeutic goals. She is an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist and believes in providing a safe space for clients to explore their beliefs without judgment.
When I first came to Kristina, I struggled with living my life on someone else's terms, people pleasing, and running from my emotions. I had a life long dream and was content that just having the dream was enough, though deep inside I knew something was missing. Kristina helped me to explore what my life could look like if I chose to live my dream and make it my reality. Together we unraveled and healed trauma and painful memories. As I healed, my dream started to take shape, and I grew in confidence believing I could actually have what I wanted. Today I can say I truly love myself, my life, and my dream is becoming my reality. I am grateful to Kristina for helping me find my way, and I am truly excited for what is yet to be!

I highly recommend Kristina Scaglione. I am the unique position to have clients/patients in common with Kristina. I am a divorce attorney. As can be imagined, going through a divorce process is one of the most stressful events in someone’s life. I have recommended clients, before, after and during the divorce process to meet and speak to Kristina. Without exception, every one of those clients have been extremely satisfied and happy with Kristina. Further, every one of them has expressed to me that they are grateful for Kristina and feel that she is not only listening to them but actively helping them.

I will continue to recommend Kristina to my clients and I, unequivocally, endorse and recommend Kristina to anyone needing psychotherapy or counseling.
- R.M.
I’ve been seeing Kristina for about 4 years now. It started off 1 to 2 days a week and has now spread out to once every couple weeks. Kristina is one of the most supportive people in my life. She helps me make some of the most important decisions and helps me with reasoning. She is always there for emergencies and know exactly how to help me in every situation. She has taught me so much to be able to help myself in certain situations so I don’t have to rely on other people. Seeing her for the past 4 years has really changed my life and has helped me grow stronger. I highly recommend sessions with Kristina for whatever the reason may be. She is strong, smart, caring and kind and she really shows that you matter.

My husband and I met Kristina 18 months ago. We came to her with a broken marriage and a trial of failed counseling in our wake. In the time since then, we've spent over 100 hours in her office ripping off bandaids and looking at the wounds we needed to heal. There are times I know that another therapist with less patience would have cut us loose. She never wavered.

Little of that time was easy... all of it was worth it. With her help, we totally reinvented our marriage. I could not imagine 18 months ago that we could have the relationship we have today.

I'd say she's a miracle worker but the inexplicable nature of miracles undermines her talent. It's easy to see why she's so good at her job. She profoundly understands people at the cellular level – what they're made of, what makes them tick, how to connect with them. She's deeply intuitive and you can feel it when you're in her presence. She's made an art of listening and a science of inner healing. All the while, taking little credit for the amazing work she does. My husband and I are so grateful for the time we've spent with her and I recommend her to anyone who's ready to make real, lasting change in their life.
