✨ Now Offering EMDR Therapy

I'm excited to now offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)—a powerful, evidence-based treatment for trauma, anxiety, and emotional distress. EMDR helps clients process difficult memories by using bilateral stimulation (like guided eye movements), allowing the brain to rewire how trauma is stored and felt.

Clients often experience faster relief from symptoms compared to traditional talk therapy alone. It’s especially helpful for PTSD, complex trauma, phobias, and deep-rooted patterns. If you feel “stuck” or overwhelmed by past experiences, EMDR may be a transformative tool in your healing journey.

For Mental Health Clinicians:

Navigating Challenging Cases in Therapy?
Clinical consultation is here to provide the guidance and support you need. I specialize in assisting licensed therapists as they tackle complex cases and ethical dilemmas. Together, we’ll explore individualized feedback, practical tools, documentation templates, and step-by-step strategies tailored to your unique situation. My goal is to help you blend practical solutions with the passion that brought you to this field and to reignite your enthusiasm for your work if needed. While we may touch on how your personal experiences influence your practice, it’s important to note that consultation is distinct from counseling or supervision and operates separately from my therapy practice.

Starting Your Own Therapy Practice?
One crucial lesson that schools often overlook is how to launch a successful practice. Many therapists enter the field driven by compassion rather than a business mindset, which can lead to challenges in establishing their practice. When I opened mine, I leaned heavily on business consultants, and the investment was truly invaluable.

Now, I offer consultation services to therapists considering starting a practice or looking to enhance their existing one. I meet you where you are in your journey, understanding that building a thriving private practice takes time and effort. Our work will focus on strategic planning, marketing, and effective operational management. We’ll identify short- and long-term goals, uncover your strengths and unique niches, and develop strategies for attracting your ideal clients—all essential components of successful practice management. Supporting clinicians through this process is incredibly rewarding for me.

The demand for counseling is higher than ever, creating fantastic opportunities for entrepreneurs and those dreaming of their own practice. If you’re feeling burned out in your agency job, now is the perfect time to leap! You can succeed during this pivotal moment with a solid business plan and intentional actions.

*All sessions are conducted via Simple Practice or phone unless otherwise specified.

We can provide you with receipts or a "superbill" that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Please note that I do not currently offer a sliding scale. For session rates, feel free to contact us directly.

Effective January 1, 2022, the federal No Surprises Act was enacted to protect clients from unexpected medical billing. This law requires all healthcare providers to give uninsured patients a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) or those choosing not to use insurance for their healthcare services.

If applicable, your GFE will outline the expected costs for mental health care services, excluding any unforeseen expenses that may arise during treatment.

Clinical Specialist | Advocate | Trauma-Informed Therapist

Kristina is a trauma-informed therapist, EMDR-trained clinician, and no-BS accountability partner with a fierce commitment to healing, advocacy, and personal growth. Her work is grounded in a belief that transformation happens when clients are met with both compassion and honest, judgment-free guidance. She challenges her clients to take bold, intentional steps toward change—while ensuring they never walk that path alone.

Her academic foundation includes studies in psychology, philosophy, and criminology at both Misericordia University and Northeastern University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. While in Boston, she co-designed youth gang intervention programs, LGBTQIA+ mentoring initiatives, and a suicide hotline tailored to LGBTQIA+ students. She also advocated for transgender rights on campus and volunteered with the Human Rights Campaign, setting the tone for her lifelong dedication to justice and mental wellness.

Kristina began her career in private investigation, uncovering insurance fraud while continuing to mentor youth and study human behavior. She later participated in Global Youth Leadership Conferences, engaging with global leaders on pressing social and political challenges and how to support vulnerable communities around the world.

In New York, she volunteered with Hands Across Long Island (HALI), working within a PROS (Personalized Recovery-Oriented Services) model to support individuals with severe mental illness. As an employment specialist and group leader, she helped clients reclaim independence through education and work readiness.

Kristina earned her Master’s in Social Welfare at Stony Brook University, with a focus on psychopharmacology, CBT, and Crisis Intervention. At Clinical Care Associates, she provided therapy for court-mandated clients in collaboration with probation officers, judges, and community agencies. Her specialties include anger management, domestic violence intervention, sexual trauma and paraphilia treatment, couples counseling, and LGBTQIA+ family dynamics. She also developed a pioneering LGBTQIA+ Domestic Violence Intervention program, blending affirming frameworks with evidence-based methods.

Kristina treats adults, older teens, and LGBTQIA+ individuals, couples, and families. As a former administrator of a 75-bed residential psychiatric facility, she managed geriatric mental health cases and staff under Department of Health compliance. She holds extensive continuing education in aging-related issues, addiction, hoarding, communicable disease management, and transitional housing for those with severe and persistent mental illness.

Her certifications include EMDR, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Advanced Holistic Counseling, and Compassion Fatigue. She integrates mindfulness-based approaches, CBT, Imago Therapy for PTSD/CPTSD, OCD/Pure O protocols, and grief work into a customized experience for every client.

Kristina’s approach is clear-cut: she will challenge you to show up, do the work, and own your transformation, while offering unwavering support and zero judgment. As an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist, she creates a safe, empowering space where all identities are honored and healing is possible.

When I first came to Kristina, I struggled with living my life on someone else's terms, people pleasing, and running from my emotions.  I had a life long dream and was content that just having the dream was enough, though deep inside I knew something was missing.  Kristina helped me to explore what my life could look like if I chose to live my dream and make it my reality.  Together we unraveled and healed trauma and painful memories.  As I healed, my dream started to take shape, and I grew in confidence believing I could actually have what I wanted.  Today I can say I truly love myself, my life, and my dream is becoming my reality.  I am grateful to Kristina for helping me find my way, and I am truly excited for what is yet to be!

I highly recommend Kristina Scaglione. I am the unique position to have clients/patients in common with Kristina. I am a divorce attorney. As can be imagined, going through a divorce process is one of the most stressful events in someone’s life. I have recommended clients, before, after and during the divorce process to meet and speak to Kristina. Without exception, every one of those clients have been extremely satisfied and happy with Kristina. Further, every one of them has expressed to me that they are grateful for Kristina and feel that she is not only listening to them but actively helping them.

I will continue to recommend Kristina to my clients and I, unequivocally, endorse and recommend Kristina to anyone needing psychotherapy or counseling.

- R.M.

I’ve been seeing Kristina for about 4 years now. It started off 1 to 2 days a week and has now spread out to once every couple weeks. Kristina is one of the most supportive people in my life. She helps me make some of the most important decisions and helps me with reasoning. She is always there for emergencies and know exactly how to help me in every situation. She has taught me so much to be able to help myself in certain situations so I don’t have to rely on other people. Seeing her for the past 4 years has really changed my life and has helped me grow stronger. I highly recommend sessions with Kristina for whatever the reason may be. She is strong, smart, caring and kind and she really shows that you matter.

My husband and I met Kristina 18 months ago. We came to her with a broken marriage and a trial of failed counseling in our wake. In the time since then, we've spent over 100 hours in her office ripping off bandaids and looking at the wounds we needed to heal. There are times I know that another therapist with less patience would have cut us loose. She never wavered.

Little of that time was easy... all of it was worth it. With her help, we totally reinvented our marriage. I could not imagine 18 months ago that we could have the relationship we have today.

I'd say she's a miracle worker but the inexplicable nature of miracles undermines her talent. It's easy to see why she's so good at her job. She profoundly understands people at the cellular level – what they're made of, what makes them tick, how to connect with them. She's deeply intuitive and you can feel it when you're in her presence. She's made an art of listening and a science of inner healing. All the while, taking little credit for the amazing work she does. My husband and I are so grateful for the time we've spent with her and I recommend her to anyone who's ready to make real, lasting change in their life.
